Ask my Psychiatrist
In this series of drawings, Ask My Psychiatrist, I explore different psychological concepts, such as the psychological self, physiognomy, phrenology, la folie circulaire, multiple personality disorder, schizophrenia, and developmental disorders. While reading a book on psychology, I rearranged and interpreted the drawings based on what I saw on painted tracing paper. Before drawing, I had crumpled the paper, adding an element of distortion and chance to the process.
The creased tracing paper introduces a sense of fragmentation and instability, reinforcing the psychological themes of the series. The interplay of fluid colors and precise lines creates a contrast between control and disorder, echoing the complexities of the mind. Each piece invites the viewer to interpret the layered meanings, much like the shifting perspectives within psychology itself.
