Pointing Fingers

The series Pointing Figures consists of drawings of pointing fingers in different directions, drawn onto broken pieces of glass. A pointing finger evokes in me a feeling I struggle to handle. It is a gesture that stirs aggression, one I deeply dislike. By pointing the fingers in various directions, I attempt to soften its impact—yet, through repetition, the gesture also becomes more aggressive. That said, I also added a finger pointing upwards, suggesting something less human.

The fractured glass intensifies the tension within the work. The transparency allows layers of gestures to overlap, creating a chaotic interplay of accusations, directions, and uncertainty. The fragile yet sharp material mirrors the paradox of vulnerability and threat—the way something delicate can wound, just as a seemingly simple gesture can carry weight and violence. The pointing fingers, multiplied and fragmented, shift between accusation and disorientation, questioning not only the act of pointing but also the instability of perception itself.
