The Good Neighbor is a series of self-portrait photographs inspired by a comment from a neighbor, who once expressed appreciation for my quiet, almost invisible presence. At the time, it didn't feel like a compliment. Instead, it made me question what it truly means to be a "good neighbor." How well do we really know the people living next door? What struggles remain hidden behind closed doors?
This ongoing series is centered around self-portraits in which I am often unrecognizable or only partially visible. The urge to create and present myself is evident, yet there is always a degree of ambiguity. As in much of my work, I explore the tension between visibility and concealment, revealing just enough while still holding something back.
